A quarter project is a two week project that we do at the end of every quarter in Gaming, Animation, and Web Design at River Bend Career and Technical Center. The best part of a quarter project is that our teacher Mr. Daniels allows us to choose what the project is on. My quarter project for quarter two was a board game with my friend Shane. He needed a board game for his portfolio to get into Champlain College. The idea behind our game is trust. The player fights through five different zones and is allowed to team up with the other 4 players. I worked on the board and some of the creature designs while he worked on the rules, bosses, and the story. When it came to designing the board I took inspiration from a lot of different fantasy games. We were going for the fantasy style of board games. The board I designed is broken into five different zones, The Plains, The Desert, The Ocean, The Mountains, and lastly The Volcano. I also designed all the small lower leveled enemies you fight throughout each zone in the game. The creatures range from lava slugs to rock monsters. I did better on the board than I did on the creatures, but this was the first time I had to create monsters. This was one of the better quarter projects I have worked on. Working with Shane was probably the most fun I have had on a project.
